The origin of the term Kelly Green is Americanized with its roots beginning in Ireland. Kelly is one of the most popular surnames in Ireland and Irish cloth producers developed a deep rich green fabric to replicate the color of their beloved Irish countryside. There is also a Kelly Green plaid which incorporates a single blue and light red pinstripe that can be used for a variety of projects from skirts to tablecloths.
